Labrador park, is one of the defense lines set up by British to defend Singapore from any sea based intrusion from north during their time of rule. The name 'Labrador' has still left me wondering without a convincing answer, wonder if it got derived from the Labrador road near by anyway it is a peaceful place to be in and will certainly qualify as a weekend retreat. Aside from a rich past of its own, Labrador Park has nice greenery, interesting rocky beaches and cool sea breezes to treat its visitors
Here is what ‘Ullekha’ had to say about her visit experience
The trip to Labrador Park was a really unforgettable experience. I am sure that the children and the adults enjoyed the trip a lot. The weather was supporting us for a while, but then it started to rain but that was also not for long. When we reached there, we found a nice and shady place. After that some of us climbed over the railing and sat very near to the sea.
It was then some of the children got a brilliant idea to climb the banyan tree nearby and swing from its branches using one of its hanging roots. ‘Raksha’ and ‘Bigas’ were very brave and climbed up as quick as a flash but ‘Raksha’ hit the lamppost once and still did not give up but I was very scared . The branch was so high above the ground!!! but somehow the uncles managed to make me climb up the tree but I started screaming and shouting and made a really big fuss. Then my father consoled me and told me to swing. I did it and you know what, it was so fun!!!!!!!So after we finished playing, we had a delicious meal of noodles, curd rice, fried rice, daal, parata, channa masala, gulab jamun and more. While we were eating our food venkatesh uncle brought up the topic of a old game called ‘Lagori’ which is also known as seven stones. So after food we all played the game and it was very nice so we made up our minds that on weekeds, instead of playing badminton and cricket, we will play ‘Lagori’ in the reservoir!!! But after some time the people got tired and we all sat down to chat. Then ‘Meena’ aunty recommended that we could play ‘French cricket’ me, shreya didi, mama and geeta aunty started playing French cricket but as time went on we got bored and we started to play normal cricket, After that we had some watermelon which was very juicy and we headed of for home. I really can't wait for other adventures!!!
