Our ‘Divali Nite’ Pre-Events
Dear Friends, for those of you who missed being there here is glimpse of ‘Divali Nite’ pre-events.
The Tug of War and Rangoli drawing events turned out to be a major attraction and far exceeded the limited expectations the organizers had.
The events were well competed and had whole lot of fun, The time flew by unnoticed which explains how engrossed we were in them.
It invoked good interest from the audience and on lookers who willingly joined us and shared the fun.
We are now eagerly looking forward for our most popular and curtain raiser event “ Drawing competition for our Kids”. Lets be at the forefront along with our little ones to make use of this opportunity for the betterment of their skills and personalities.
Cheers,
Murali

It has been a neck to neck competition and almost resulted in a tie putting the organizers at a dizzy situation, The winners only emerged towards the fag end of the competition and its the last few votes that made the distinction.
This clearly demonstrates that the group has liked and appreciated all the entries been and have evenly received them.

Banner Designing
Dear Friends,Its time once again to get creative and to challenge our grey cells or hairs which ever feels convenient ( ha.ha.ha)
The task at hand is to design a Banner to build awareness and to publicize our forth coming event "Deepavali Nite" to all Longvalietes. The rules are simple produce a appealing background with a great theme to showcause our event, fill the banner space with the standard contents that would be provided by the committee shortly with the choice of letter fonts and content representation as per your choice and rush in your entries to LongvaleDuniya@gmail.com
All entries would be published on our blog and opened for group members selection. The one with highest number of vote would be chosen and forwarded to RC.
So what are you waiting for, get your brushes moving and the colors flowing, hit us hard with your best one…

“Come let’s fly a kite, up in the Atmosphere”
Reminds us of Mary poppins song isn’t it. Well that’s what we longvaleits indulge in at the Bedok Reservoir view on 12th June 2010.
Incidentally, it also happened to be a seniors day out as some of the families had the company of their elders who had come to spend time with their grand children during school holidays. The kidoos were well inspired with elderly encouragement to put up a good show, but the wind turned out to be a dampener nevertheless whether the kite went high or not, the kids put a good show with the surprise fireworks on offer and concluded the event in a high note.

Holi Poem
Holi aai, Holi aai,
Satrangi sapne saath lai,
Hara rang chura lo pedon se,
Neela rang aasmaan se,
Peela rang surajmukhi se,
Lal rang tesu ke phoolon se,
Naarangi rang chadte suraj se,
Gulabi rang shishu ke gaalon se,
Bhura rang apni vasundhara se,
Na aa paaye kale-safed ki baari,
Ab ke baras aisi Holi aai!

Holi Aai !!!!
Longvale Duniya celebrates Holi
little princess ‘Raksha’ describes it in her words
“When it is holy, we have many colours, Some of them are green, pink, orange and purple. We apply the colours on our family members first. But when my family members, my friends and me where celebrating holy........ Wait let me start from the first. It was 7th of March. We(my family members, my friends and me) went to the reservoir park. We settled our things and went to get some water to add colours into it. Then we started playing. I was the first one to apply colours onto my sister(ullekha)but she screamed at me because the colour went into her mouth and eyes.Amma(rajani)took ullekha and rinsed her mouth and eyes and scolded me.Boo hooo hooo :(.........Anyway I still continued playing. When I was playing, I did not realize that I had a purple moustache. There were two late uncles............. wait a minute I forgot to tell you that Shreya didi did not come.Anyway the two late uncles were venkatesh uncle (Shreya didi's father)and Suresh uncle(sheshank's father). They were the people who was pink all over (that was because we did not have any other colour left). You know the next living thing which had pink all over it was...............SHERU!!!!!!!!!!!!!(Venkatesh uncle's dog)
I did not still realize that I had a purple moustache. Then Venkatesh uncle took a
picture of me and showed the picture of me to me(I FELT VERY EMBARRASSED).We had our lunch. We had jalebi, puri and many more. And at the end we all danced (except ullekha, the uncles and rajani)even Neel (sorry if I spelled your name wrongly )danced. Then we went home.”

‘Lagori’ , ‘Langoori’ @ Labrador
Labrador park, is one of the defense lines set up by British to defend Singapore from any sea based intrusion from north during their time of rule. The name 'Labrador' has still left me wondering without a convincing answer, wonder if it got derived from the Labrador road near by anyway it is a peaceful place to be in and will certainly qualify as a weekend retreat. Aside from a rich past of its own, Labrador Park has nice greenery, interesting rocky beaches and cool sea breezes to treat its visitors
Here is what ‘Ullekha’ had to say about her visit experience
The trip to Labrador Park was a really unforgettable experience. I am sure that the children and the adults enjoyed the trip a lot. The weather was supporting us for a while, but then it started to rain but that was also not for long. When we reached there, we found a nice and shady place. After that some of us climbed over the railing and sat very near to the sea.
It was then some of the children got a brilliant idea to climb the banyan tree nearby and swing from its branches using one of its hanging roots. ‘Raksha’ and ‘Bigas’ were very brave and climbed up as quick as a flash but ‘Raksha’ hit the lamppost once and still did not give up but I was very scared . The branch was so high above the ground!!! but somehow the uncles managed to make me climb up the tree but I started screaming and shouting and made a really big fuss. Then my father consoled me and told me to swing. I did it and you know what, it was so fun!!!!!!!So after we finished playing, we had a delicious meal of noodles, curd rice, fried rice, daal, parata, channa masala, gulab jamun and more. While we were eating our food venkatesh uncle brought up the topic of a old game called ‘Lagori’ which is also known as seven stones. So after food we all played the game and it was very nice so we made up our minds that on weekeds, instead of playing badminton and cricket, we will play ‘Lagori’ in the reservoir!!! But after some time the people got tired and we all sat down to chat. Then ‘Meena’ aunty recommended that we could play ‘French cricket’ me, shreya didi, mama and geeta aunty started playing French cricket but as time went on we got bored and we started to play normal cricket, After that we had some watermelon which was very juicy and we headed of for home. I really can't wait for other adventures!!!
Folks, like to share your experience, we are happy to hear from you, do write to Longvaleduniya@gmail.com or visit us on Facebook

Wish you all a Prosperous, Healthy, Happy New Year of the Tiger!
According to the Chinese Zodiac, the Year of 2010 is the Year of a Golden Tiger. The Tiger is one of the most beautiful creatures on the planet, and is feared and revered in equal measure. It features in many Asian cultures as a manifestation of courage, power, passion and royalty. Tigers are fond of competitions. They simply cannot pass up a challenge. They may appear cool and are unpredictable, and it would be unwise to underestimate their reactions.
Lets harness the qualities of the Golden Tiger and work towards achieving the success in our chosen path.
Gong Xi Fa Chai.
